Update

Tummy update: Splats have dried up. My husband was off the hook for collecting the nasty specimen: the medications first constipated both Catie and Riley and by the time things got moving again, everything was normal.

They’re both back to their happy, barking, grass-eating, ball-chasing, ball-chewing, piano-playing, sun-basking, sniffing, snuffling selves.

P.S. On a human-related note, my 79-year old father had hip replacement surgery this morning. I visited him this afternoon and seeing him so vulnerable in the hospital bed, with the tubes and the catheter and in considerable discomfort, made me overwhelmingly sad. In my mind he’s still much younger than he looked today.

  2. Love the pictures! The one with just that gorgeous head sticking out of the plant is my favorite! 🙂

Sorry to hear about your dad. I’ve had that same moment with my dad, several times unfortunately. Always hard to see these men that we once thought were Superman looking frail and vulnerable in a hospital bed. Love and prayers for all of you…canine and human.

  3. I missed your last post on Riley’s problem. It’s funny because I also had something similar happen with Kobe – he had massive diarrhea recently with blood – he actually went inside the house because he couldn’t hold it in when I was out. Gave him some flagyl, which works like a charm and everything is back to normal. If it’s not one thing it’s certainly another! Glad to hear that the splats are gone! What great photos – Catie and co look very happy!

So sorry to hear about your dad. I went through something similar with my dad a year ago – he fell and broke his hip and ever since then it’s been a really rough road. I feel for you and your sadness and know what you’re going through. It’s tough, very tough. You are in my thoughts and prayers. …

  4. good news that the poops are finally back to normal! the squirts are no fun for the ‘giver’ or the ‘receiver’… hope your dad’s doing well – amazing a hip replacement at 79, he must be a very vital guy to go through all of that, paws crossed that he’s up and about soon!!!

  5. You two are some gorgeous looking pups. Living the high life out in the yard and with no more ookie tummys. Hope the summer is filled with more ball chasing, chewing, sun and fun.

Hope your Dad/Papa is on the mend soon. We’ll keep all of you in our thoughts.

  6. COMETDOG IS B A C K!!!

I’ve been under some sort of block out on the blog feeds! But you know Crafty Comet…I figured it out! I’m B A C K!!!

I was going to acknowledge the cool pics and cool update but then you mom had to add the sad P.S.!

My Grammy had hip replacement surgery last year (my mom’s mom) and Geez, she scared the poo out of my mom when she went into respiratory failure a couple of days later! It was only undiagnosed sleep apnea and she was fine. But my mom stayed in Texas much longer than she said she would!

I’m okay with it now. I got over it. Even though we are never apart!

Okay, I gots some catching up to do. I heard Fortis boy has a blog – gotta go find him!

  7. Thank you for all your good wishes about my dad. He’s gotten much better (oof, he looked awful that first day; scared the poop out of me too – no shortage of poop around here lately); not exactly ready to run a marathon (as if) or get in round of golf before the snow flies again, but things are going well. Woohoo.

  8. Great photos! I 2nd the one with the head sticking out of the plant, but there all precious. I hope Catie and pack are continuing to do well.

I pray your father has continued to improve and is well on his way to a full recovery.

  9. So glad to hear that everyone is on the mend. It can be so draining to watch those you love struggle and know you can’t fix it immediately.

Love the pictures!! So nice to see such happy, happy, dogs. And really, nothing better than a Golden and a ball. I always come back to your posts when I need to see that somebody else is going through trials much like my own…different life, different city, same ole’ stuff. It makes it seem not quite so burdensome.

    Thank you for that.

  10. Carmen, we hope your Dad’s feeling better. I’m just now catching up on the blogs and was glad to hear that the pups aren’t squirty anymore, but sad to hear about your Dad. Please let him know that the whole Tripawds community is pulling for him to completely recover. We’re so glad he’s already on his way.
